Smug As Pug With a Bug

Life: it sneaks up on you. What can I say? One day, you're ankle deep in mud pretending to be Godzilla, and the next, you are eight shots of espresso deep in an Anatomy book, wondering if you shall ever see the sun again. It's strange to think that there ever was another life besides this, and, yet, I'm always wishing that I had such a life.

As it stands, two study days are between me and my first final. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day for me to learn all that needs to be learned. I know that others in my class find themselves in the same difficult and taxing position of mediocrity that I find myself in, and that some sit in far more perilous positions. As we approach finals, my fondest prayer and wish is that my entire class and I shall emerge victorious from finals with our heads held high and be able to exclaim that we survived first year and made it to second year.

The Final Countdown:
Sunday: STUDY ALL THE THINGS! O_O
Monday: Study butt off for Anatomy. >_<
Tuesday: ANATOMY FINAL!!!!!!!!!AHHHHHHH!!!!! T_T
Wednesday: Virology Final
Thursday: Physiology Final
Friday: Epidemiology Final >_<

Monday: Parsitology Final (AND SWEET SUMMER FREEDOM!!!!!)
Tuesday-Sunday: Sleep! <3

Storms and the Inevitable After-Con Blues

Today has been a day of epic storms. From golf ball size hail to torrential downpours, it seems that Tennessee is experiencing a miniature version of Noah's flood. Tomorrow marks the last day of classes for this semester and the start of non-stop studying for the five finals that the end of this year entails.

While MTAC was amazing, yet again, I find it difficult to not suffer the usual after-con blues. This feeling is only exacerbated by the fact that my best friend and roommate has to move back home for a job opportunity, throwing me out on my own again. It is with much sorrow, anxiousness, and dread that I approach the final stint of my first year of vet school. While I know that I have the bounty and joy of summer to look forward to, I am reminded that when I again come back up for school, I will find myself completely and utterly alone in a strange and undesired place.

I'm finding it very difficult to muster the ability to focus on my final exam studies. Exhausted and defeated, I find myself muddling through these final days, simply hoping to make it through this year. If you are reading this blog, I would appreciate if you take the time to wish my some luck or say some prayers for me.

For those interested, here is a pic of the finished Charizard cosplay and another pic of my Blastoise cosplay:

The 25 Days of the End of the Semester

With 25 days left to go, I am aware of one thing and one thing only. Yes. You were absolutely right. MTAC is officially one week, 1 Microanatomy Final, and 1 Anatomy Quiz away. If I survive this coming week, which I hope I will, I will be thrust head-first into a delightful world of anime frivolity and cosplay, a world that I very much call home.

In other news, I finally made the phone call to the vet that I've worked for the past four years and secured my summer job (YAY MONEY!!!!). So, after exams, I get the joy of working in the clinic again, something that you only come to appreciate when you haven't been there for a while. Provided I pass all my classes, I am sure that my 1/4 vet knowledge will allow me to truly appreciate many of the daily things that I will do.

Now, to finish making my brownies and study some Micro. On the upside, my family and boyfriend are coming up this weekend for open house, so the weekend cannot be too horrible. ^_^

2 Weeks, 2 Exams, and 1 Quiz...

These are all the things that separate me from MTAC 2011, my 8th MTAC.

This would be the perfect launch into the "look at how far I've come" topic, but I will digress as I have a very important Reproductive Physiology exam tomorrow that I must study for. ^-^ Another time, try not to be disappointed.

The days of this semester are winding down. Today marks the the 32 days left of my first year mark. While I find it hard to believe that time is passing quickly when I'm in the midst of it, I realize from a distance exactly how fast time is really moving. All I can think at this moment is COMMON 25%!!!!! There is simply no use in trying to look at something in such a wide expanse of time. It drives you crazy and, ultimately, proves rather pointless. I have rapidly become a short-term goals person which, if you had known me before vet school, is a far cry from the years and year that I had planned out on paper before this point. Sometimes, you just have to throw it all out and think about things on a small scale. One quiz, one test, one day, one week.

I don't know if I can get past 2nd year, but I do know that I can pass one test at a time, dealing with the rest as I get there. Far too many people throw their lives and sanity away striving for something that, in the end, ceases to have meaning anyway. No matter where you are in your lives, try to live for one hour and one day. Get through it as you get to it. You may not get there first, but you will get there, and, when you do, you won't be nearly as tired as the others that I have beat you there.

To keep rambling in an attempt to avoid my inevitable reunion with the physiology book, I would also like to state that April 16th is the vet school open house. I attended the open house about two years ago before I had gotten into vet school, and I decided that if I got in, I would volunteer to work it. So, here I am, working my first vet school open house. ^-^

I'll be working the Canine Parade of Breeds section this year, handling my adopted Pomeranian for the day. (I didn't get Dexter signed up in time, unfortunately.) It should be a real blast, so if you are in the Knoxville area on April 16th from 8am-4pm, please drop by the vet school and check it out.

Countdown:
Summer: 32 days, 1 Physiology Exam, 1 Microanatomy Exam, 1 Anatomy Quiz, and 5 Finals.
MTAC: 14 days, 1 Physiology Exam, 1 Microanatomy Exam, and 1 Anatomy Quiz.
